Mar C Ricketts
Founder, Architect of the Air
Mar’s interest and studies of architecture begin at a very young age, as he grew up exposed to architecture and design, learning to think in three dimensions. From his start, working in architectural office during his high school years, Mar went on to study architecture professionally at Pratt Institute. During his studies his interest became focused on Design-Science, geometry/morphology, and tension structures and started the road down the path that GuildWorks now produces.
Mar’s design work has spanned from innovative kites, which flying in low and no wind, to sets and props for theatrical shows. to mobiles and kinetic art for public buildings to awe inspiring temporary amphitheaters for festival and events. to permanent installed fabric structures covering home decks. His art work has been shown in museums and galleries world wide including American Craft Museum in NYC. However, his favorite work is solving functional needs with artful fabric architecture
Mar founded GuildWorks with the knowledge that nothing is done alone and the best work comes out of collaborations. His goal to create a collaborative company which leads the forefront of design and build in fabric structures, doing more with less, creating functional and beautiful fabric architecture.
