PRODUCTION ASSISTANT

Position Title: Production Assistant
Reports To: Production Manager
Department: Production
Location: GW HQ

PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION
To ensure the delivery of high-quality, on-spec, on-time sewing and detail work of all GuildWorks’ designs.

GOALS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Support the Production Manager and Team with fabricating large, complex fabric projects. 
  • Prepare pieces for various stages of production.
    • Assess project progress and ensure that materials are organized for each stage of processing and the next team shift. 
    • Read and understand production charts, mapping them onto fabrics. 
    • Proactively prepare for next steps in the life cycle of a project. 
  • Responsible for moving production equipment, architectural fabrics, and supplies. 
  • Responsible for packing the final product and assisting with shipping to the installation site. 
  • Keep open and clear communication channels between team members and departments.
  • Assist with cutting textiles to precise specifications.
  • Work with industrial sewing machines – Top stitch, Single Needle, Double Needle
    • Sew on heavy fabrics such as architectural canvas and vinyl.
    • Fold, twist, stretch, or drape material and secure articles in preparation for sewing.
    • Join and reinforce parts of articles, such as large fabric sails, tips, rope channels, etc.
    • Measure and align parts, fasteners, or trimmings, following seams, edges, or markings on parts
    • Trims excess threads or edges of parts, using scissors or knife.
    • Selects thread, twine, cord, and thread needles.
  • Responsible for using a high frequency welder to create consistent and strong welds. 
  • ​Operate hot air welding machines.
  • Keep equipment and tools well organized and clean.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain sewing machines and other factory machines.
  • Follow GuildWorks COVID-19 and all other safety protocols. 
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

  • Internal: Production, Installation, Inventory, Project Management, Design
  • External: n/a

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience working in a cut and sew environment.
  • 3-5 years experience sewing heavy fabrics on industrial machines
  • Knowledge of patterning and sewing construction and techniques and able to understand the bigger picture of a project.
  • Must know how to use a tape measure and understand basic math.
  • Proven record working with demanding deadlines and production schedules.
  • Computer Skills, Illustrator, CAD, Cut & Pattern Files.

COMPENSATION
Will include an hourly wage, participation in bonus opportunities as announced and other benefits as per company policies.
