City Square Phoenix

To revitalize the City Square Plaza, a central gathering spot in the Central Avenue business corridor of Phoenix, the Baker Pacific Group significantly upgraded the courtyard area. The purpose of the renovation is to connect the three surrounding office towers and offer a place for tenants and neighbors to connect, spend their lunch break, or attend events. The renovations also included an event stage, pavers, and landscaping.

GuildWorks was hired to design, engineer, and install the shade sail installation to make the courtyard more comfortable for visitors by lowering the temperature and preventing heat islands. The shade sails span over 7,000 square feet and reaches heights of up to 60 feet. By utilizing building anchors, the installation requires only a few central masts on the plaza itself, engineered to rest on the underground parking garage beams. The shade sails provide relief from the sun and illuminate with LED lighting at night.
